Daily Chuckles - My completely random gift guide: 2013 Edition

I can hardly believe that Thanksgiving has passed, Hanukkah went with it, and Xmas is only 2 weeks away. I've been horrifyingly neglectful of my blog, and wanted to return from that brief hiatus with something that was a big hit back in 2011 - my completely random gift guide. There is no rhyme or reason to this...just things I have found on the internet that are worth of being shared.  Enjoy!

1) Chainsaw Attack Bookends (courtesy of Knob Creek Metal Arts) - $64.99 (currently $55.24 on sale)
I actually had a really hard time picking just one item to feature from this site.  They have a plethora of alien invasions, dinosaurs, swamp beasts, and more.  Whether you want bookends, or a zombie on your key rack, there is sure to be something for somebody you know!

2) Muffin Tops Cupcake Molds (courtesy of Perpetual Kid) - $12.99
There are few times when a muffin top is appropriate.  This, however, is one of them and there is something about making muffins in a delightful pear of denim cut offs that is strangely appealing.

3) Star Wars™ Vehicles Pancake Molds (courtesy of Williams Sonoma) - $14.99 (currently $6.99 on sale)
Would it be a true nerdy gift guide without something for the Star Wars fan?  Perhaps you could eat your X-Wing Fighter with the Chopstick Sabers from my 2011 guide.  Seems like a great excuse to play with your food.

4)  Medieval Weapons Push Pins (courtesy of Amazon) - $9.99
Feel like stabbing your TPS report with an axe (without getting in trouble with your boss)?  This is the answer.

5) Samurai Sword Kitchen Knife Set (courtesy of Think Geek) - $59.99
For those times when you just need to practice your ninja moves on a zucchini...  'Nuff said.

6) Bubble Wrap Calendar (courtesy of Amazon) - $29.99
This is a poster sized calendar, which is sure to delight everybody in the family.  The biggest problem I see is that there will need to be some kind of bubble popping chart indicating whose turn it is, or everybody in the family needs a separate calendar, or you have to be stealth (see ninja knives) and sneak away to pop the bubble of the day before anybody else gets to it....and even then, can you really just stop at one bubble?

7) Disappearing Civil Liberties Mug (courtesy of Uncommon Goods) - $12.00
If your Facebook feed is anything like mine, you have a variety of friends who are frequently outraged by this exact subject.  Now, every time they drink a coffee, they can be reminded of their outrage.  They will thank you.

8) Volume Knob Pacifier (courtesy of Baron Bob) - $9.95
Perfect for those new parents who are bewildered and trying to figure out what day of the week it is.  Give them a laugh, while making them simultaneously sad that the knob doesn't actually work.  If it did, I'm pretty sure it would cost one hell of a lot more than $9.95.

9) Song Map (courtesy of Dorothy) - £25
As a music lover, who wouldn't want to go to a place where you can go west on the Road To Hell and end up on The Boulevard Of Broken Dreams.  This map features 390 song titles and a matching Spotify playlist.  A sure fire way to get lost in the music!  (You see what I did there?)

10) Hot Mess Spoon and Cutting Board (courtesy of Think Geek) - $9.99-$14.99
If you know somebody who likes to make a mess in the kitchen, you might as well help them along with this spoon rest and cutting board set.  Hide existing spills under functional ones.

Now - get shopping!

Daily Chuckles - Shark Week (sort of)

I have been AWOL recently and I apologize, although I'm not going to make excuses. I guess I've had nothing in particular to say. There's things afoot though that I hope to share soon. In the meantime, enjoy this video of a cat...in a shark costume...riding a Roomba.  (Thanks to my friend Paige!!)  Is there anything better?

Daily Chuckles - My completely random gift guide

I feel like I've been completely lacking inspiration for gifts this year - I was even having a hard time deciding what I wanted for myself (seeing as I wasn't going to make husband buy me a $500 camera lens).  I also go through the annual problem of having our wedding anniversary, Christmakuh and husband's birthday all within 3 weeks.  Yeah, I know, first world problems.

Anyway, I took to the internet for ideas and, in doing so, found a lovely assortment of completely random gifts that I just had to share with you all.  Here it is - my completely random gift guide (a/k/a stuff that I find hilarious).

Moo, I'm A Goat T-shirt
(courtesy of Snorg Tees) - $19.95

This shirt needs absolutely no explanation...or does it? Perfect if you enjoy seeing how long it takes for your friends to try and figure it out.
Magic Wand - Programmable TV Remote
(courtesy of Think Geek) - $89.99

Apparently it learns from your existing remotes, which inspires Harry Potter geeks and Muggles alike to be running around the house yelling "expelliarmus" and "accio" while waving the wand at TVs or ceiling fans. I'd actually be sorely tempted to teach it how to work the remotes in the office too, to really get everybody thinking that I have magical powers. Oh, the possibilities are endless!
Clocky Alarm Clock on Wheels
(courtesy of Brookstone) - $39.95

Don't go to the gym, just chase your alarm clock around the house! Apparently, Clocky will give you one chance to wake up and then will jump off your nightstand and take off. It doesn't say if Clocky is any good at hiding, seeing as an alarm clock you can't find could be a bit of a problem. Also doubles as a pet toy.
Kilt Beach Towel
(courtesy of Catalog Favorites) - $29.95

This will have folks wondering what your man's got under his kilt. I think this one is best used in public places and perfect for covering up those Speedos.
Monkey Tea Infuser
(courtesy of Waste Some Cash) - $9.75

If you've ever wanted to hear the phrase "there's a monkey in your tea", this is the time. You can then correct them by saying, "actually, there's tea in my monkey".
Slingshot Flying Monkey
(courtesy of Amazon) - $2.09 (sale)

While we're on the topic of monkeys, want an awesome gift for any white elephant gift exchanges coming up? This is guaranteed to be a big hit at meetings, given that it is a toy complete with screaming sounds.
Air Swimmer Remote Control Shark
(courtesy of Toys R Us) - $49.99

Another great item to have in the office, parties, or just following you around in general...especially if you've already purchased the wand remote.
Star Wars Chop Sabers
(courtesy of Think Geek) - $12.99

Technically, if you were really a Jedi, you could use mind tricks to get the food in your mouth. If that fails though, might as well use these chop sabers, which you could also use in battle should somebody try to steal your sushi.
ABC (Already Been Chewed) Cookie Cutters
(courtesy of Waste Some Cash) - $7.99

This may be the most brilliant method of keeping the cookies all to yourself!  An alternative for those of you who are used to licking your food to stake your claim.
Cock Blocker Wine Stopper
(courtesy of Amazon) - $7.95 (sale)

You always need something to prevent unwarranted advances...on your wine!  Helpful if you don't have your light-saber chopsticks on hand.

Daily Chuckles - ...and I thought I was ticklish

I have to thank my friend Charlie for introducing me to this video of Cookie the penguin, who now seems to be a viral video sensation!  I love a good penguin video and this one gives me the giggles every time.
Enjoy!

Daily Chuckles - This could save your marriage

Last night, while watching the DVR recording of my only daytime TV guilty pleasure, The Doctors, I found out about what is possibly the best new product ever.  It's called the "Better Marriage Blanket".  Now, you might be wondering what about this blanket could improve your marriage, and quite simply it's designed to absorb and eliminate the odor caused by your spouse's middle of the night flatulence.  Genius.

What makes this quite possibly the best marriage saving product on the market right now is that it is made from military grade materials, designed to protect against chemical warfare.  That really puts a new spin on what it is to sleep with a gassy spouse (or pet, I should add).  I mean, you will never have to fear that "silent but deadly" dutch oven ever again - and if that's not saving marriages, I don't know what is.

While this sounds like a ridiculous hoax, it's legit folks!  For a moment, I considered ordering one of these blankets for the holidays, but they're apparently a highly sought after item and the company that makes them is out of stock until December anyway.  Perhaps I'll have to arm myself with a flak jacket and tear gas instead.

Daily Chuckles - He just needs a top hat

Sorry I've been so absent this week.  It's been a lot of work, work, work.  If any of you are Linkin Park or Seal fans, think of me when their new albums come out next month.  They are the reason I've been so quiet on the blog front!  I'm excited to take a break tomorrow though as husband and I will be traveling up to Santa Barbara to visit my brother.  Considering he's only 90 minutes away, I do not see him often enough so it'll be nice to get away and relax with him for a day.

In the meantime, as you may have noticed I'm a total sucker for silly animal pictures and videos.  When my co-worker sent me this penguin video though, I was shocked, amazed, and then immediately very jealous that I don't have my own.  If I did though, he really would have a top hat.

Daily Chuckles - Tigers like catnip too!

Somebody on Ravelry posted this video today showing that even the biggest and most fierce of cats like catnip too.  When we first introduced Deuce to catnip, he sniffed it and walked away.  Figures he'd be in the small percentage of cats that aren't at all interested in the powers of the nip.  So, while it may not protect me from the crazy animal that runs our household, it's good to know that should I ever be in fear of being hunted by a tiger, leopard, or other big cat, a paper bag with catnip should do the trick.

Daily Chuckles - Should your man smell like Old Spice?

I can't help but laugh every time one of these Old Spice commercials comes out.  Between these and the "most interesting man in the world" Dos Equis ads, I'm glad that there's advertising agencies out there still being creative and truly earning their keep.

Daily Chuckles - Ridiculous, but I kind of want it!

Sometimes I find things online that are completely ridiculous and make me wonder who the hell even has enough time on their hands to come up with these things.  At the same time, they amuse me greatly and the end result is that I kind of want them and if I had expendable income, I'd probably have to buy it for shits and giggles (so to speak).

I came across this little gem a couple of days ago and have to share.

Birchstone Studios Snot-A-Mug Egg Separator
Now, I don't generally have to separate my egg whites, but if I did this on a regular basis, I can think of no better way to do it than inducing snot through a ceramic nostril.  This guy seems like a dinner guest that would also wipe his nose on his sleeve, or pick his teeth before reaching for the bread.  Truly quite genius in design, and totally hilarious, but perhaps users should be aware that it might put you off your pudding (or whatever it is that you're cooking).

For $14.95 (through Amazon), it just might be perfect for next year's white elephant gift exchange at work.

Daily Laughs - Simon's Cat

If you're at all familiar with "cattitude" then you really should check out Simon's Cat.  It's a great laugh because it's just so true!
