Daily Ramblings - Merry Christmas and all that

Hard to believe it's Christmas Eve already.  This year has been filled with a whirlwind of activity and, even now, with only a few days left, we still have so much left to do.  So, in anticipation that I won't get a chance to update this space until 2014, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

Daily Ramblings - Welcome 2013!

Happy New Year to you all.  I hope the holiday season brought you everything you desired.

Last year was a whirlwind.  I was completely preoccupied with pregnancy and then the arrival of my beautiful baby boy for 11 of the 12 months.  Even now with just under 2 months left in my maternity leave I'm realizing how few things I had planned to do during my leave have actually been done.  (Don't get me wrong though, I'm certainly feeling at peace with accomplishing nothing more than looking after the little guy and doing basic household chores daily!)

Even something simple, like updating my blog, has been more challenging than I expected as our computers are in the basement so not super convenient.  Husband was kind enough to buy me a tablet for our wedding anniversary/Christmas so now I can communicate with you from the couch/rocker/bed....even with babe sleeping in the crook of my arm.  Technology is awesome!

For now, I leave you with a little bit of Photoshop magic, courtesy of our friend Nick.  Here's baby Owen in his Christmas Eve outfit...

Daily Ramblings - Happy New Year! (A Recap)

Happy New Year to all of you!  I hope 2012 has started well for everybody.  :)

With the arrival of my parents from England a couple of weeks ago, it feels a little bit like all hell broke loose.  Despite being off work since Dec 21st (first day back today *sigh*), there was just so much going on!  Husband and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary in there somewhere (love you honey!) and then took off to Vegas for Xmas weekend with the family.  It's the first time that we had both husband's and my parents together for a holiday event, and it has to be said that it was very nice to have everybody in the same place at the same time.  We had some fun wandering around the casinos to check out their holiday displays, and also won a few bucks playing blackjack on Xmas Day.

So, here we are in a new year and I'm optimistic for wonderful things to come.  The last couple of years have been a serious roller-coaster and I'm curious to see what 2012 has in store.  Usually I write out a bunch of things that I'd like to do in the year.  In 2011, I accomplished a small handful of things and realized [sometime in November] that there was no way I'd ever get it all done!  This year, my goals are to experiment, try new things, explore and enjoy life...and I'm sure that by the end of the year, I'll have some amazing experiences and memories to cherish.

Daily Ramblings - Happy New Year!

2010 seems like it was really busy and went very quickly.  As the year winds down, there is always anticipation for what the new year will bring.  I don't tend to set myself resolutions as I only end up disappointed, but I like to think of things that I hope to do/achieve in the upcoming year.  I may not get to all of these (just as I didn't manage everything I thought of 365 days ago), but there's no harm in writing some down right?

In 2011, I would like to...
- travel more
- organize my craft room!
- destash some of the clutter
- finally get around to painting the bathrooms
- hang more on the walls
- get my photography website completed
- work on inventory for my craft site
- complete at least one quilt successfully
- sew more clothing
- knit more for myself
- go to a museum or three
- sort through my closet and donate what I don't need
- practice baking (not from a box!)
- be better about the gym (to work off what I ate while baking perhaps?)
- make a ton of grocery bags in anticipation of the plastic bag ban!

I know there's more for this list, and I'll be thinking of more that I want to do I'm sure.  I'm going to take a leaf out of my friend's book here and post it on the sidebar here so I can keep track of my accomplishments, and take you along for the ride of course.

So, Happy New Year from us to you!  What are you hoping for in 2011?  Whatever it is, cheers to a wonderful year ahead.
